Hike Under the Sun

Cyprus is located at the crossroads of three continents (Asia, Africa and Europe) therefore its flora and fauna have traits from all three of these areas. At the same time, its varied nature as an isolated island surrounded by sea, allowed new, endemic species to develop. These particular characteristics give Cyprus a unique position in the world’s natural heritage.

With a favourable climate all year round, the great outdoors of the island is easily accessible, and offers a myriad of opportunities to take a journey through nature, history and culture. A total of 52 designated walking trails in the area of Akamas, Troodos and Kavo Greko have been created to highlight the beautiful landscapes and strong Mediterranean character of the island. Some trails are more challenging than others and most of them pass through state forests.
