LEF1
Description
The LEF1 vessel (built in 1955) is one of two wrecks that were submerged in the Marine Protected Area (MPA) of Larnaka in 2019 to create the region’s first artificial reef (alongside the MV Elpida). It is also the island’s first artificial snorkelling reef. Stretching parallel to the shore, the vessel is the ideal option for non-experienced divers and snorkellers. It is also great for underwater photography and a fish identification speciality course.

Elpida
Description
The MV Elpida was also submerged in 2019 to create the region’s first artificial reef (alongside the LEF1). Constructed in Germany in 1965, the Elpida was used as an active cargo vessel in Greece until she was sent to Cyprus specifically to be repurposed as an artificial reef. The vessel quickly attracted diverse marine life, which continues to grow and thrive thanks to eco-friendly amphorae that have been added to the MPA to further encourage marine diversity. The wreck is suitable for two dives in a day thanks to her size and provides an ideal introduction into wreck diving with long bottom times.

HMS CRICKETWRECK
Description
HMS Cricket is an old British river gunboat (built in 1915) that weathered both WW1 and WW2. The boat that is 72m long and 11 m wide was stripped for spare parts and the hull was towed to Cyprus and then anchored in Larnaka Bay to be used as target practise by the UK’s RAF. After the boat sank in 1947, due to bad weather, it ended up resting upside down, creating an enticing sandy dip beneath the wreck that now allows divers to swim through. Divers can also swim inside the hull through the battleship’s escape hatches, making this a popular wreck dive with a historical twist.

The Alexandria is an Egyptian wooden fishing boat that sank in 2006; one of the few wooden shipwrecks on the island. The vessel that is 30m long and 9m wide, sank perfectly onto the seabed where it continues to sit just 200 metres from the world-famous Zenobia wreck with turtles sometimes visiting the reef. Beautiful marine life with significant number of various kinds of school of fish. One of the nicest wreck dive sites in Cyprus with very small swim through that is convenient for technical diving.

PYLA PIRATE CAVES (Xylofagou)
Description
The three stunning underwater caves and caverns of this site are as beautiful as they are unique and can be entered with a single dive. The only place on the island where you can dive in a cave and surface inside a mountain, the experience is further enriched by stalactites and a dazzling range of different blue hues. Even though the marine life in the area is not particularly rich it is one of the most interesting sites for new divers due to the caverns and caves and for experienced open water divers.
